According to Takeshi Honda, who has been helping Marin refine her skating while she’s in Japan since last month, it isn’t the technical side of jumps that Marin has been struggling with:
“Marin told me that she has a fear of jumping. Failing to land jumps when she’s performing is becoming her greatest fear. She’s worried she might fail again when she has to perform, even when she’s been doing well during practices. I think that her doubting herself has been the biggest reason why she couldn’t jump properly.
So she’s going to train to land all the jumps she attempts during her regular training. I think it would also boost her confidence if she lands her jumps in ice shows.”
